Mekanism !

My trip to Mekanism was pretty fun, I love the workplace, and the people were extremely friendly! They really make you feel at home. Before I visited Mekanism, I was curious about how our visit was going to be, because there website was just so strange! But, when I got the chance to sit down and speak to some of the workers, they explained the whole concept of there website. On my trip, I ended up learning a lot ! Not about the kinds of jobs, but the way they all get along. It even ended up being one of my questions, I asked “What do you look for in people that want to work here at Mekanism?” , she gave me a really good answer. She told me that they look at the way they act and there personality traits, that it’s not all about what they’ve learned in college. In her words, “They could be really good everything, and we still wouldn’t hire them, we want a friendly environment, we all have to work together.” I never knew that it mattered so much.

I wish that I got to see more of Mekanism though. Maybe meet some animators and people actually working on some projects. Because they told us all they can do there at Mekanism and showed us of there old work, but it isn’t the same. Also, I wanted to know more about them and there personal experiences at mekanism, than the place in general. If we had a couple of more minutes wit them, I think we would have found out more. Either way, I had a great time ! I know they’re busy, and I’m thankful for them to even have us at there workplace for two hours. The experience is great, and it really makes me think about what I want to do in the future.

Legacy Of Imperialism

Those days of worry and stress are finally over. In some ways I’m happy but then it brings us one step closer to the end of the year. Legacy was so much fun, especially getting to know the people in my group. We started off great but after we had to do our proposal over again, after it wasn’t good enough, things started to pile on top of one another. We started spending our brunch, lunch and after school time to make this project look and be just how we wanted it. When it came to the last days of Imperialism, I felt everything was going downhill. We had several things to turn in and I had a bad feeling in my stomach. We didn’t get a chance to practice until the last day. We it came to the day, MAN, it was nerve wrecking! When we presented we did better than I thought. We didn’t cover everything they wanted but we didn’t get any questions from the judges, which was our biggest worry.

Even though we didn’t get funded, I’m proud of my group. I know they did as best as they could and we are disappointed about it, but it’s okay. Now we know what we could work on and how we could be better.We got through it and that’s what I’m happy for. They’re amazing people, and I’m lucky to have them for Legacy of Imperialism. Career Exploration Visit Reflective Essay

Before the exploration visit, I was really excited to actually see Beyond Pix and talk to some employees. I learned a lot of interesting things from the people at Beyond Pix. For example, the classes to take and how to get a job like theirs. I thought Beyond Pix would be a huge place because of so much equipment they need for production, and the things they could do.

One of my predictions turned out to be true, which is how nice the place really was. I never thought about it that much in detail. It doesn’t even look like a work place, it was more like a second home, i loved it! It wasn’t just a bunch of cubicles. Also the place was really small, only 22 people work at Beyond Pix. I saw their recording studio, broadcasting, and post-production. I met a lot of friendly people, they were easy to talk to and had a great sense of humor. It shows that they love their job. So it makes me want a job like theirs, now i’m thinking twice about what I want to study in college.

I learned many things during the visit. I never knew or noticed how important it is to be passionate in what you want to do. It’s not all about the money because then you won’t enjoy your job. One the employees talked to us about that. Also they all mentioned how close they all are. The employees work on everything together, if one fails to do their work on time they all fail together.

I loved everything at Beyond Pix , the work place was amazing! I sure wish I could witnessed a live broadcast though. To see how it is to be behind the camea, but other than that it was great. I would love to work there one day.

College Visit Reflective Essay !

Before my visit to UC Berkeley, I thought about how college would be, the people, the dorms, and the work. Not only that but classes and the huge cost. I heard more negative things about college than good, so that’s what I expected. People in college told me classes were tough and not so much fun, and of course how expensive college is. I positively knew that college wasn’t all bad like some say, I thought there had to be something good. For example the beautiful campus with huge buildings and historical sites. Also all the different kinds of people you could meet, that came from all over the US and are really focused on school. I didn’t expect much before, since I didn’t know much.

I came back knowing a lot more than what I expected. I’m surprised about how much freedom they give students in college, they expect them to be responsible for themselves and their actions. Also students can start their own clubs and stand up for what they think is right. I also got to talk to one of the students at UC Berkeley, she told me about how college isn’t all about work and studying every single day, it’s actually a really fun experience. Some people call it the best years of their life.

I think what impressed me the most was how grad students can teach the first year students without a real teacher and classes can be 800 people in one class! Also I learned about scholarships and loans to help pay for college, since college is so expensive and many people can’t afford it. I’m shocked at how much you have to do to apply to a UC, like take the SAT and write a 1,000 essay, and only about 25% get accepted but I know it’s all worth it. That’s why people go through all that trouble to get accepted. I want to be one of those people and part of that 25%, because whether you go to college or not, your future depends on it but if you want a successful job and make memories to always remember, it’s better to go to college.

My First Semester In the DSA

I love being in DSA, I’ve done way better in my classes compared to last year. I think it’s helped me focus more in class and get everything done. Learning was fun, and I hope to get better in it through out my years in DSA. I loved doing the graphic design though because it’s a way to be creative, and I had a lot of fun in graphic design. Also, we did Photography, that was sooo much fun, being out and taking pictures of people. There’s many ways you can take pictures you just have to find to get it out there. History Of Our Families was such a great project (and that’s comming from a person that absolutely hates projects!) It was a chance for all of us to get to know eachother better. I plan on staying in DSA ’til my SENIOR year !
